Text Box: Avedis Akian
Is a 9 year old boy from Summit, NJ who was diagnosed in January 2009 with the rare
disease, ataxia telangiectasia.

Avedis dreams of growing up to be a chef and of owning a shiny, blue motorcycle.

Avedis’ parents are committed to raising money to find a cure or life saving treatment for his illness and hope you will join them.

  About  Ataxia Telangiectasia:

is a rare genetic disorder that affect approximately 500 children/young adults in the U.S.

attacks in early childhood after a seemingly healthy infancy

is characterized by a progressive loss of coordination that affects the child’s abilities to walk, talk, eat, read,  and write.

predisposes the child to cancers including leukemia and lymphoma and severely compromises the child’s immune system

Children maintain normal to above normal intelligence and are keenly aware that they are being trapped inside a body that no longer works

Currently there is no treatment to slow the progression of the disease and no cure
